About Kimberly
Healthy aging, taught by someone who had to relearn it.
Kimberly Cunningham, APRN, ANP-C, is a board-certified nurse practitioner, founder of Cunningham Clinic, author of Great Sex Never Gets Old and an educator of patients and providers. Her work sits at the intersection of evidence, experience and a conviction that the second half of life can be the best half.
The mission
Help people understand their own biology well enough to make good decisions about it.
Too many adults over forty are told their symptoms are simply age. Kimberly’s mission is to replace that shrug with information: what is changing, what the evidence says you can do about it, and how to work with a clinician who will measure the results. She does that through patient care, writing, speaking and training other healthcare providers.
Professional journey
Twenty years at the bedside.
Kimberly has provided healthcare in Colorado for more than two decades, across an unusually wide range of settings: the emergency department, inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facilities, internal medicine and healthy-aging clinics. That breadth shapes how she practices today—she has seen what happens when chronic problems go unaddressed, and what it takes to prevent them.
Before nursing, she studied biochemistry at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Florida. She completed both her BSN and her MS in Nursing at the University of Colorado College of Nursing, where she now serves as adjunct faculty.
The turning point
The injury that changed the practice.
Years into her career, a life-changing injury left Kimberly immobile for years. Recovery was slow, and it forced her to approach her own health the way she would a complex patient’s: methodically, with data, and without accepting “that’s just how it is” as an answer. Hormone replacement therapy became part of that recovery.
The experience reshaped her professional direction. She founded Cunningham Clinic to integrate Western and European guidelines in helping people look and feel better, and she began teaching other providers how to bring hormone therapy into their own practices responsibly.
“I have been the patient who was told to accept decline. I don’t accept it for my patients either.”

Provider education
Teaching the next generation of clinicians.
Kimberly trains other healthcare providers to integrate hormone therapy into their practices, and is often called on to teach best practices and novel approaches in aesthetic treatment for complex patients. As a trainer for Biote Medical and the Allergan Medical Institute, and as adjunct faculty at two Colorado nursing schools, teaching is a core part of how she works, not a side project.

Cunningham Clinic
Where the philosophy becomes practice.
Cunningham Clinic offers both healthy-aging solutions and aesthetic treatments. Kimberly’s aesthetic approach is deliberately conservative—“start low, go slow”—with longer visits to review each person’s anatomy and age-related changes, and a goal of natural correction rather than looking “done.” New patients begin with registration, comprehensive lab work and a one-hour consultation.

Great Sex Never Gets Old
Kimberly’s book, Great Sex Never Gets Old: Health, Hormones, and Having It All After Forty, was a #1 New Release on Amazon in 2023 and is available in English and Spanish. It is the conversation she has with patients every week, written down for everyone who has not had it yet.
Personal philosophy
What Kimberly believes
Symptoms deserve explanations.
“It’s your age” is a description, not a diagnosis.
Evidence over enthusiasm.
The right intervention for the right person, measured, and adjusted when the data says so.
Conservative is a strength.
Start low, go slow, and aim for the least intervention that gets a real result.
Intimacy is health.
Sexual wellbeing is a legitimate part of medicine and a legitimate part of aging well.
